Pear Flaxseed Drink – Dry Skin Remedy

1 DAY’S SUPPLY FOR ONE ADULT, PREPARATION TIME 3 MINUTES

If you suffer from dry skin, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis or salicylate sensitivity then this is the skin hydrating, salicylate-free drink for you. Pear Flaxseed Drink contains omega-3 rich flaxseed oil with a twist… It is teamed with lecithin which acts like an oil emulsifier to make it easier for your body to utilise the omega-3 oils. Drink this daily to gradually increase skin hydration and reduce rash symptoms.

TIP: If you have a Nutribullet or Thermomix you can use 1 ripe pear (peeled), instead of canned pears or pear juice. Pre-freeze the pears to make a slushie-like drink. Halve the amounts if serving this drink to small children.

You will need:

1 ½ cups chilled water
1 cup tinned pear slices (juice drained), or freshly juiced pear
1 tablespoon lecithin granules, photo below (use non-GMO soy or sunflower lecithin)
1-4 teaspoons organic flaxseed oil (see notes)

 Lecithin

Method

Combine the chilled water, pear, lecithin and flaxseed oil in a blender. Blend for 30 seconds on high or until smooth.

Notes

  • Begin on a low dose of flaxseed oil and each day increase the amount until you reach 3-4 teaspoons (adult dose).
  • If serving this drink to a child, halve the amount of lecithin and flaxseed oil etc. You will need about 1-2 flaxseed oil capsules. Pierce the capsule and squeeze the oil into the drink before blending.
  • Flaxseed oil is freshest when bought in capsule form. Keep flaxseed oil in the refrigerator at all times and you can store lecithin granules in the refrigerator too if the weather is hot.
  • Pears a re low in salicylates but the skin contains salicylates.
